During my trip to Ethiopia, I was able to take a short domestic flight to the northern part of the country and visit the town of Lalibela (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lalibela).
Here are the pics from the airplane. I was amazed at how spread out everything is, and how they build and farmed on every square inch of ground. The canyons reminded me of southern Utah but this was far more green.
