Temple Trip

Yesterday was an amazing day. It was a beautiful fall day for a temple trip. Kristin attended the temple for the first time and had one of her high school friends be her escort. There were some close friends and family who were able to join as well. The sun was so bright when we came out of the temple that our eyes had a hard time adjusting for the pictures we took.

Camping Adventures

For the 4th of July weekend we loaded up Boone's truck and headed northwest to Harper's Ferry. The original campsite didn't work out as we had planned. When we arrived we were told that there was no road access to the site but that we'd have to hoof all of our stuff in almost a mile. As strong as I am it would have taken a few trips, and then a few trips more to haul it back the next morning. I made some last minute calls and we found a family campground even closer to Harper's Ferry.

As Adam and I were setting up the tents we noticed a peculiar odor arising from the west

General Conference

What an amazing conference weekend! All the talks were great and I feel like I am at the beginning of another school year with the course syllabus laid out in front of me. Early this morning before the sun came up I went to the Jefferson Memorial/tidal basin with a friend to see the cherry blossoms. As the sun came up we read the account in the last few chapters in Luke of the end of the Saviors life and the morning of the resurrection. I was struck at the beauty of the symbolism of the rising sun that gives physical life to the entire world and the rising Son who offers spiritual life, life eternal, to everyone. What a simple yet beautiful reminder every morning. I've included some pictures from our trip.
